STEFANIE BUTLER

ACTOR | WRITER | DIRECTOR

"When the storyteller tells the truth, she reminds us that human beings are more alike than unalike...

A story is what it's like to be a human being - to be knocked down and to miraculously arise.

Each one of us has arisen, awakened. We do rise."

Maya Angelou

ABOUT ME!

IMG_3281.HEIC

Stefanie Butler is a storyteller in every sense of the word. She is a film and television actor, a stage actor, a proud member of SAG-AFTRA & AEA eligible, a screenwriter, an aspiring children’s book author, a blogger and a director. She loves collaborating and cares about telling stories that deeply matter with people that matter deeply, because success isn't just about what you accomplish in your life, it's about what you inspire others to do.

Stefanie was born in Atlanta, GA, the second of four children, to Eveline Butler, a homemaker, and Brett Butler, a professional baseball player. She is of English, Irish, Italian & Icelandic decent and grew up bi-coastal between Atlanta, GA and Los Angeles, CA most of her life.

From an early age, Stefanie developed a keen interest in observing and understanding people, which naturally led her to become an actor. She went on to receive an acting scholarship to Pepperdine University, where she was renowned for her work on the stage, and upon graduation, immediately began her film and television career starring opposite Armie Hammer and Kristoffer Polaha in the Billy Graham biopic, Billy: The Early Years.

In 2015, she was thrilled to join the cast of the much anticipated Netflix series, Stranger Things. She has also guest starred on CSI:NY, Shark, Rizzoli & Isles and Frank Darabont’s Mob City. Her commercial work is extensive and includes over thirty national campaigns, while her film work includes the independent films Car Dogs, starring George Lopez, Patrick Adams &  Octavia Spencer, Same, which she wrote, starred in, and took home 2nd place for best short film at the Christian Worldview Film Festival, and Zula the Infinite, which was an official selection of the LA Shorts Fest and received the Award of Excellence at Indiefest Film Awards.

Stefanie can currently be seen in the films Guest of Honor (shot entirely in German), Legend of Five Mile Cave, Long Roads, There Comes A Knocking (in collaboration with Film Riot), and USS Christmas on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel.

In 2023, Stefanie completed production on her short film, A Chance Encounter, which she wrote, directed, and produced. It had its world premier at the Paladino D'Oro Film Festival in Sicily, Italy where it was nominated for an award. The film will continue to make its way through the festival circuit in 2024. Stefanie is working to get her first feature, Sagewalk, off the ground as well as her next film, Deirfiúracha, which she's written and will direct and star in with her sister, Abbi Butler. It is a period piece about two Irish potato farmers in the late 1800's. Stefanie is also writing her father's life story into a biopic titled Against All Odds and is fortunate to have the incredible Shane Graham attached to play her father. In her free time, Stefanie is always writing and developing other screenplays. To see more about her projects currenetly in development, head on over to her writing|directing page!
